Fatal North Versailles car accident claims 3 lives

A 22-year-old driver from Pittsburgh crashed his vehicle into another car in North Versailles last Thursday. The collision resulted in three deaths — one child and two adults. According to police, the driver had a warrant out for his arrest relating to a drug-related probation violation.

The young man will now be charged with several counts of homicide by vehicle and other crimes relating to the accident. In addition to the three deaths, another five people were also injured in the collision, which also involved a Mercedes SUV, including the driver who caused the horrific crash.

The accident happened after police attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by the above-referenced driver after he made an illegal turn. Although he initially stopped in a parking lot and provided officers with his information, when police discovered the warrant and called for backup, the man drove away at a high rate of speed. Six minutes later, he caused the fatal accident described above.

The police officer that pursued the man has been placed on administrative leave, which is protocol. The officer's name was not released, but the local police chief sad that the officer has been with the force for approximately 17 years.

This tragic and completely unnecessary car accident will no doubt send shockwaves of sadness throughout the communities of the people who died. The close family members of the victims who died, and the surviving, but seriously injured parties, will feel the negative effects of this crash for a long time.

Although nothing can be done to reverse these effects, those affected by the crash may wish to seek financial restitution and justice through the civil court system by filing a wrongful death or personal injury claim against the party or parties responsible for the accident.
