Family hit by tragedy after snowy car accident kills 1, injures 3

Three people suffered serious injuries and one girl lost her life in a tragic two-car crash in Western Pennsylvania. The accident happened on Dec. 9 during heavy snowfall, when snow covered most this area of the state.

Police indicate that the collision happened at approximately 7 p.m. A 33-year-old man was driving a Dodge Neon with his wife and three children riding as passengers when the vehicle spun out of control in the snow. The vehicle was then struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe, which impacted the left side of the Neon and pushed it into a utility pole on the driver's side.

Everyone was trapped in the car, and needed to be pulled out by rescue workers. Three of the people were seriously injured and an 11-year-old girl was instantly killed as a result of the collision. Both the husband and wife were among the injured. One boy is currently unconscious at the hospital, though doctors say he is responsive to touch. One girl was lucky to survive with relatively no injuries, but she was being held at the hospital for monitoring. Although she was lucky in terms of injuries, she will have a great deal to recover from the emotional scars left by this tragic crash.

At this time, police investigations into this crash are ongoing as they try to determine how it may have happened. These investigations will be important to the family in the Neon. Although the family has created a GoFundMe page to help raise money to help them pay for their medical care. Costs will likely be exorbitant, and money raised through charity may not cover everything.

If those injured in a snowy car accident are able to show that the city was negligent for failing clear snow from the roadways, the injured parties might be able to hold the city accountable for the accident. This and other avenues for recovery might be revealed following a fatal crash, so Pennsylvania families may want to reach out to a personal injury attorney to learn about their legal rights and options following any fatal collision that affects them.
