Pennsylvania teenager streams fatal car accident live on Facebook

A tragic car versus tractor-trailer accident happened earlier this December and it was recorded live on Facebook by the occupants of a vehicle that was rammed from behind by a big rig. An 18-year-old girl was operating her vehicle with her 19-year-old friend inside. The friend can be heard asking, "Are you going live?" just before the fatal collision.

Before the 18-year-old answered, bright lights were seen in the car, sounds of tires breaking were heard, and then seven minutes of darkness. By the time rescue officials arrived on scene, both girls were dead. The end of the video includes a man talking, and then a bearded and blurry face is seen just before it turns off.

The driver of the semi-truck escaped the accident unharmed. At this time, it is unknown if the semi-truck driver will be faulted for the crash as investigators are still trying to determine how exactly the incident happened.

According to Pennsylvania troopers, the girls had been driving on a spare tire for some reason at the time of the accident, but it is unknown if this had anything to do with the crash. Nor have authorities revealed whether the accident was caused by the girls streaming video live, but we do know that streaming video with a cellphone in a vehicle is legally prohibited.

When Pennsylvania car crashes are fatal and involve the death of drivers and passengers, family members and friends of the deceased will want to know the hows and whys of the accident. They will want answers to why their loved ones have died. Close family members may also want to investigate whether they can file a wrongful death claim in civil court to seek restitution and a sense of justice in the matter
