3 common car accident causes most people never think about

When Pennsylvania motorists are navigating traffic, they don't have a running tally of all the car accident causes in their minds. In fact, the average driver probably isn't even thinking about the possibility of a car accident at all. Nevertheless, the following three issues commonly cause fatal or injurious collisions. Therefore, it's important for motorists to be aware of them.

Nighttime driving: Darkness means less visibility for everyone who is on the street: motorists, motorcyclists, bicyclists, runners, skateboarders and pedestrians will all have a harder time seeing and responding to the environment around them. For this reason, drivers need to be especially careful and attentive to what's happening around them and make sure that they have high quality headlights that are fully on. Drivers also need to be especially careful on roads without streetlights.

Potholes: Potholes are everywhere, especially in the city. Pittsburgh drivers should scan ahead to make sure they see any such obstacles before they get surprised by them. A pothole could cause a motorist to swerve into another vehicle, pedestrian or bicyclist if taken by surprise.

Blown tires: Blown tires happen frequently. When vehicles are traveling at speed, they can lose control and flip over after a tire blowout. Always examine your vehicle tires for signs of wear and repair replace them when necessary and without delay.

With caution and care, drivers can prevent the above three causes of accidents -- simply by staying aware of them and taking the necessary steps to avoid them. If you, however, were hurt in a crash caused by nighttime driving, potholes or blown out tires through no fault of your own, you might have a right to financial compensation depending on the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident and depending on the extent of your injuries and damages.
